Leadership Lesson: Who’s in charge? Goals, roles, responsibility, accountability, authority
Confused? We throw some terms into our business conversations, often unsure about what they mean. Particularly words related to roles and goals. Issue shows up when we delegate actions to accomplish objectives. Confusion is delay or death to projects. Ever say or hear, “But, I didn’t know I was supposed to do that!”
We may be unclear about the goal, the roles and responsibilities of the implementation team (and its individual members), who is accountable for what actions, and what authority do they have to perform their roles.
Clarity is the pathway to minimize misunderstandings and maximize success. Really.
